SUMMARY:WORKING WITH NEEDS IN A MODULAR WAY - Prof. Rafaeli - Rome\, 22 Nov
 ember 2025
DESCRIPTION:BRIEF ST-INSPIRED INTERVENTIONS:\nWORKING WITH NEEDS IN A MODUL
 AR WAY\nProf. Eshkol Rafaeli\, PhD\nRome\, 22 November 2025 - 02.00 pm - 0
 5.30 pm\nThe Workshop will be held Saturday 22nd November 02.00 pm - 05.30
pm in presence in Rome at Roma Scout Center - Largo dello Scautismo n. 1\
 , 00162\, Rome (Italy)\n&nbsp\;\n\nTHE WORKSHOP\n\nIn a period of global c
risis and unrest\, the gap between the need for mental health treatments a
nd their availability is wide and widening. Efforts to create focused\, ta
ilored\, and personalized solutions have often emphasized diagnostic categ
 ories and protocol-driven\, diagnosis-specific care. \n\nIn recent years\,
however\, the limitations of this approach are increasingly recognized\,
along with the high prevalence of comorbidities\, the utility of transdiag
nostic work\, and the use of unified protocols that are actually less pers
onalized. \n\nAn alternative way to go involves process-based therapy (see
  Hayes &amp\; Hofmann\, 2021) – which shifts the focus from symptom-redu
ction to identifying and addressing the underlying processes whose disrupt
ion causes symptoms. \n\nIn this workshop\, I will focus on how schema the
rapy (ST) is an approach which has always called for exactly such process-
based work. \n\nST’s theory centers on psychological needs\, and its int
egrative treatment approach guides clinicians in the pragmatic use of dive
rse emotion-focused\, cognitive\, behavioral\, and relational tools to add
ress these needs. \n\nThe workshop will briefly review the rationale for p
rocess-based approaches in general\, and then delve into a set of ideas an
d tools for process-based work which brings ST ideas into the realm of foc
used (and often brief and modular) interventions for anxiety and related d
isorders. I will provide an overview of this model\, currently being resea
rched jointly at Bar-Ilan University and UC Berkeley\, and will devote the
majority of the time to learning and practicing the therapeutic tools it
provides.\n&nbsp\;\nNo registration fees for ISST members\, SITCC members
and Presenters\nParticipants are responsible for covering their ISST or SI
TCC membership fees\, as well as\, their own accommodation and travel expe
nses.\nFor other participants (No ISST or SITCC members) there is a regist
ration fee of 50\,00 euros vat included.\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n\n&nbsp\

 , BSF\, the Templeton Foundation\, the Hope &amp\; Optimism Initiative\, a
nd others\, Eshkol examines the nature and structure of moods and emotions
in the daily lives of both distressed and non-distressed individuals and
couples. His lab also conducts psychotherapy/intervention studies\; at pre
sent\, these involve a treatment personalization study of single session i
nterventions (funded by a Binational Science Foundation collaborative gran
t with colleagues at UC-Berkeley) and a study examining mode change surrou
nding brief imagery-based CBT for anxiety (funded by an Israeli Science Fo
undation grant\, as well as a collaboration with colleagues at Trier Unive
rsity in Germany).\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n*On November 21-22nd\, before
